Our Remit — Narrow on Purpose

Funding — How We Pay the Rent

Waffle Cheltenham is a commercial affiliate. When a reader registers at a casino through a link on this page, we earn a commission from that operator. That commission is how the site is funded, and we are upfront about it.

What the commission does not do: determine the ranking. Every ranking decision on the homepage is made from test data first. The first ranking factor is objective offer value (spin count, per-spin value, max cashout cap). The second is trust indicators (UKGC licence age, complaint history, withdrawal speed from our testing). The third is commercial terms — by which we mean whether we are paid at all, not which operator pays the highest rate.

Operators who offer higher commission rates than their peers do not move up the ranking. Operators who offer no commission are still listed if their offer is strong enough — we have a running entry for BitCasino (no UK commercial relationship) on the research queue, listed for completeness. The ranking sits on the offer quality alone.

Our Editorial Standards — The Specifics

A few things we do, and a few we do not.

We do:

Why Cheltenham

The short version: it is where the three of us live. Cheltenham is a Regency spa town in Gloucestershire, population around 117,000, best known outside the gambling industry for the Cheltenham Festival — the four-day horse racing event held at Prestbury Park every March. For readers interested in the longer answer, the town has an overlooked connection to the gambling research community: it hosts GCHQ, and several of the UK's gambling harm research studies from 2018 onward were published by Cheltenham-based statisticians at various affiliated bodies. None of that shaped the site's founding. The site is in Cheltenham because we are.
